Chinese watchmakers have been making and producing watches for a long time, but with a ‘Made in China’ stigma, they don’t sell as well as their Swiss counterparts. It’s unfair to say that Chinese movements and watches aren’t as good as Swiss ones just because of price or quality. They may not be exactly on par with Swiss watchmakers, but Chinese watches are very good quality for an entry level to mid level watches. They are able to be more affordable due to lower salaries and cheaper land than in other parts of the world, so for a “cheap” watch you are actually getting more for your money and it’s nothing to sneeze at either. The chinese are on their way to sitting at the table with the big guys when it comes to watchmaking, and it’s not that far off.
