Full Job Description

Due to growth, Dallas based Swiss Watch & Diamond Exchange (SWADE), parent company of Swiss Watch Repairs, Inc. is seeking an experienced watchmaker.

Basic overview of the position:

Repair, clean, and adjust mechanisms of timepieces with the highest quality and customer service standards.

Responsibilities / Duties / Functions / Tasks

•Test and replace batteries and electronic circuits for proper functioning
•Perform routine bracelet sizing on clients watches as needed
•Perform regular adjustment and maintenance on timepieces, watch cases, and bands
•Disassemble timepieces and inspect them for defective, worn, misaligned, or rusty parts
•Test timepiece accuracy and performance, using meters and other electronic instruments
•Demagnetize mechanisms using demagnetizing machines
•Clean, rinse, and dry timepiece parts, using solutions and ultrasonic or mechanical watch cleaning machines
•Repair or replace broken, damaged, or worn parts on timepieces, using lathes, drill presses, and hand tools
•Oil moving parts of timepieces
•Inspect mechanical equipment to locate damaged, defects, or wear
•Estimate repair costs upon intake to shop within 3 days of receipt
•Adjust timing regulators, using truing calipers, watch rate recorders, and tweezers
•Disassemble equipment to inspect for deficiencies and reassemble after repair
•Adjust and lubricate equipment to ensure the proper functioning and optimal performance
•Maintain a clean and organized work area, including desks, sinks, and polishing area
•Record quantities and types of timepiece repaired, serial and model numbers of items, work performed, and charges for repairs
•Record information about parts, materials, or repair procedures
•Occasionally gather information from customers about a timepiece’s problems or service history
•Occasionally assist customers with repairs and inquiries

Qualifications

•3-5 years of watch repair experience preferred
•Brand certification for major watch brand a plus
•Knowledge of and ability to use horological tools and equipment
•Familiarity with most brands of watches
•Exceptional attention to detail
•Ability to work independently
•Good oral and written comprehension of the English language
•Basic computer knowledge including email, calendars, and spreadsheets
•Ability to organize and complete repairs based on date received and calendar schedule
•Ability and willingness to communicate with the team about updates or issues as they arise

Job Hazards

•Occasional exposure to loud noise and / or vibrations
•Handling of sharp objects and tools
•Exposure to chemicals including cleaning products and solvents
•Exposure to vapors, fumes, or flammable materials

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Schedule:

•8 hour shift
•Monday to Friday

Education:

•High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

Watchmaking: 3 years (Preferred)
