J.N. Shapiro Watches is seeking a highly skilled Watchmaker to join our growing team of American artisanal watchmakers. We produce some of the most intricate, hand-finished mechanical watches in the world, and we are looking for someone with deep technical expertise, exceptional finishing skill, and a passion for precision.

Watchmaker

Key Responsibilities:

Case Refinishing & Polishing

Perform high-level case refinishing, including beveling, polishing, satin finishing, and restoration of complex case geometries.

Work with specialty materials including tantalum, zirconium, and precious metals.

High-End Mechanical Assembly

Assemble, time, and regulate fine mechanical movements to the highest standards.

Quality Control

Perform detailed visual inspections using microscopes and industry-standard QC tools.

Maintain consistent finishing and assembly standards across production.

Documentation & Process Development

Document assembly and service procedures.

Assist with improving workflow and sustaining consistent finishing quality.

Required Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited watchmaking school (e.g., WOSTEP, SAWTA, CW21, Lititz, Oklahoma, etc.).

1–10+ years of experience assembling and servicing high-end mechanical watches.

Demonstrated excellence in case refinishing, including complex multi-finish cases.

Strong skills in movement assembly, escapement work, and accuracy regulation.

High attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistent finishing standards.

Ability to work collaboratively with a small, elite team.

Preferred / Bonus Skills:

Black polishing (specular/poli noir).

Micromechanics, including manufacturing or modifying small components.

Experience finishing traditional haute horlogerie components (anglage, interior angles, perlage, etc.).

Experience with tantalum and zirconium machining/finishing.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary $80,000–$120,000, depending on experience and demonstrated skill.
