Position Overview

Todd Reed, Inc. is seeking an experienced Bench Jeweler to join our Boulder studio. This hands-on role is responsible for fabricating, assembling, setting, finishing, and repairing fine jewelry to the highest standards of craftsmanship and quality.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical bench skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a deep understanding of working with precious metals and gemstones. The Bench Jeweler will work closely with the design, studio, and production teams to bring distinctive Todd Reed designs to life while maintaining the integrity, precision, and finish of each piece.

This is a full-time, exempt position in a collaborative, fast-paced studio environment where craftsmanship, problem-solving, and pride in the finished work are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

Fabrication & Assembly

  • Fabricate fine jewelry components and complete pieces from design specifications, models, samples, and work orders.
  • Measure, form, fit, solder, and assemble precious metal components with precision, accurate alignment, and clean, durable joins.
  • Execute complex fabrication techniques while maintaining design integrity and structural quality of each piece.
  • Prepare pieces for stone setting and finishing, making thoughtful technical adjustments as needed.

Stone Setting

  • Set diamonds and colored gemstones securely and precisely using setting techniques appropriate to each design and stone.
  • Inspect stones and settings for proper fit, security, alignment, symmetry, and overall appearance.
  • Identify potential setting or stone-related issues and communicate concerns in a timely manner.

Repair & Finishing

  • Assess and complete jewelry repairs and alterations, including sizing, soldering, stone setting, component replacement, and refinishing.
  • Polish and finish jewelry to Todd Reed studio standards while protecting gemstones, design details, textures, and surface treatments.
  • Inspect completed work for craftsmanship, quality, durability, and consistency before moving pieces to the next stage of production.
  • Identify and communicate quality issues or required adjustments to the appropriate production team member.

Studio Collaboration & Operations

  • Work closely with the design, production, and studio teams to meet deadlines and keep projects moving efficiently.
  • Track work and materials accurately,
  • Communicate progress, timelines, and technical challenges clearly.
  • Maintain jewelry tools and equipment and keep an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
  • Handle gemstones, precious metals, finished jewelry, and client pieces with the highest level of care.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of five years of professional bench jewelry experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in jewelry fabrication, soldering, stone setting, finishing, and repair.
  • Strong experience working with precious metals and a variety of gemstones in a fine jewelry environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to precision and quality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound technical decisions independently.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative production team.

Additional Information

  • Full-time, exempt, on-site position based in Boulder, Colorado.
  • Work requires prolonged bench work, close visual inspection, and the safe and precise use of jewelry tools and equipment.

Pay: $70,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
