Murphy Jewelers has been a family business since 1913, when we opened in downtown Pottsville. Today, we have three stores in Pottsville, Hamburg (across from Cabela’s) and the Lehigh Valley Mall, with a fourth store opening in Wyomissing in 2027.

We are looking for an experienced bench jeweler to join our Hamburg store full-time.

Bench Jeweler

Responsibilities

  • Size rings up and down in gold, platinum, and silver
  • Solder, retip prongs, and repair breaks
  • Stone setting
  • Polish, finish and rhodium plate
  • Laser welding
  • Assess incoming repairs and quote the custom and high-value jobs
  • Keep work moving to promised turnaround dates
  • Maintain a clean, organized bench and account for customer merchandise at all times
  • Communicate directly with the sales team
  • Basic custom design and restoration work is a plus, not a requirement

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working a full bench
  • Able to work independently across the full range of everyday repair
  • Experience on a laser welder
  • Accurate and careful, able to work at pace without losing quality
  • Approachable and comfortable communicating with our sales team, who will bring questions to the bench throughout the day
