Lux Bond & Green, New England’s premier family jeweler, is seeking a Full-Time Bench Jeweler to join our expert in-house team in West Hartford, CT. This position is responsible for high-quality jewelry repair and restoration, with expertise in stone setting, laser welding, and custom work. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in working with all metals (gold, silver, platinum) and both precious and semi-precious gemstones. This is a full-time position based in our West Hartford location. The schedule is Monday through Saturday, 8:30 am – 5:15 pm, with Sundays and one additional weekday off. Extended hours may be required during peak seasons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic to advanced jewelry repairs and restorations using various metals and gemstones.
  • Execute complex stone setting techniques with attention to detail and precision.
  • Assess repair jobs, determine materials needed, and prioritize work based on timelines.
  • Collaborate with team members on custom designs and customer-driven solutions.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
  • Input and update job details using our Point of Sale system.
  • Communicate directly with customers when needed to review work or provide service options.
  • Utilize laser welding technology and remain current with evolving jewelry techniques.
  • Support store operations through additional repair-related tasks as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Bench Jeweler in a luxury or high-volume environment.

Equipment Proficiency:

  • Bench torches and safe flame operation techniques.
  • Cutting tools including jeweler’s saws, flexible shafts, and hand jigs.
  • Drilling and grinding tools: wheels, files, and polishing systems.
  • Precision hand tools: gravers, magnifiers, vises, and holders.
  • Laser welding machines and engraving equipment (a plus).
  • Use of bench chemicals, adhesives, and cleaning solutions.
  • Microscopes for detailed work, especially small stone setting.
  • Scrap collection and shop maintenance protocols.
