Position Summary
Colonial Jewelers seeks an experienced Jeweler to join our workshop team and deliver exceptional craftsmanship that upholds our reputation for quality and precision. This position requires a skilled professional with proven experience in jewelry repair and maintenance, capable of working on fine jewelry pieces that represent significant emotional and financial value to our customers. The successful candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency in basic jewelry repair techniques, attention to detail and the ability to meet quality standards that align with our luxury brand positioning.

Key Responsibilities
Jewelry Repair and Restoration
- Execute standard jewelry repairs including ring sizing, prong retipping, stone setting and chain repair with precision and attention to detail
- Perform jewelry cleaning, polishing and refinishing to restore pieces to optimal condition
- Conduct minor soldering work on various precious metals including gold, silver and platinum
- Replace watch batteries and perform basic watch band adjustments and repairs
- Assess repair feasibility and identify when specialized work requires outside expertise or advanced techniques
Quality Control and Craftsmanship
- Maintain Colonial Jewelers’ quality standards for all completed work, ensuring pieces meet luxury retail expectations
- Inspect jewelry items carefully before and after repair to document condition and verify successful completion
- Use appropriate tools and techniques to avoid damage to gemstones, settings and precious metals
- Follow established procedures for handling high-value merchandise with security and care
- Maintain organized workspace that supports efficient workflow and protects valuable materials
Customer Service Support
- Communicate effectively with Service Manager regarding repair timelines, challenges and completion status
- Provide accurate time estimates for repair work to support customer communication and scheduling
- Alert management to any customer pieces requiring special attention or unexpected complications
- Support the service department’s commitment to meeting promised completion dates
- Maintain professional standards that reflect positively on the Colonial Jewelers brand
Workshop Operations
- Maintain jewelry tools and equipment in proper working condition, reporting maintenance needs promptly
- Follow safety protocols for tool usage, chemical handling and workspace management
- Manage precious metal scrap and materials according to company procedures
- Keep accurate records of work completed and materials used for each repair job
- Maintain clean, organized bench area that promotes efficiency and safety
Collaboration and Development
- Work cooperatively with Service Manager to prioritize repair workflow based on customer commitments and complexity
- Communicate proactively about workload capacity and project timelines
- Participate in skill development opportunities to expand repair capabilities
- Support custom jewelry projects and special requests as skills and experience allow
- Contribute to a positive workshop environment through reliable performance and teamwork
Essential Qualifications
Experience and Technical Skills
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in a jewelry store or trade shop environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic jewelry repair techniques including sizing, soldering and stone setting
- Working knowledge of precious metals and their properties, including gold, silver and platinum
- Familiarity with gemstone handling and settings to avoid damage during repair work
- Experience with jewelry tools including torches, flex shafts, polishing equipment and hand tools
- Basic watch repair capabilities including battery replacement and band adjustments
Knowledge and Competencies
- Understanding of jewelry construction methods and common repair needs
- Ability to assess repair difficulty and estimate completion times accurately
- Knowledge of safety procedures for jewelry workshop operations
- Familiarity with luxury retail quality standards and customer expectations
- Basic understanding of gemstone identification and characteristics preferred

Working Environment
This position operates in a jewelry workshop environment requiring extended periods of detailed bench work. Safety protocols must be followed consistently to protect both the jeweler and customer property.
The Jeweler will work closely with the Service Manager and operations team to ensure timely completion of repair work while maintaining the quality standards essential to Colonial Jewelers’ reputation. Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 – $40.00 per hour
