Position Overview

As a Bench Jeweler at Tom’s Diamonds, you will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and finishing jewelry to the highest standards. You will work closely with our designers, sales consultants, and clients to ensure each custom piece reflects the client’s vision while maintaining exceptional craftsmanship and quality. This role is ideal for someone passionate about fine jewelry, gemstones, and creating heirloom-quality pieces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble custom jewelry pieces, including engagement rings, wedding bands, and fine jewelry, based on client specifications and designer sketches
  • Set diamonds and gemstones using techniques such as prong, bezel, pave, and channel settings
  • Perform jewelry repairs, including resizing, stone replacement, soldering, and restoring damaged pieces
  • Evaluate diamonds, gemstones, and materials to ensure quality and suitability for each design
  • Polish, finish, and clean jewelry to a showroom-ready standard
  • Collaborate with designers and sales consultants to troubleshoot design challenges and maintain client satisfaction
  • Work from CAD designs, and client specifications to bring custom visions to reality
  • Maintain organized workspace, tools, and adhere to safety standards
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure durability, accuracy, and aesthetic perfection of all finished jewelry

Skills & Qualifications

  • Mastery of bench techniques: soldering, stone setting, polishing, engraving, and assembly
  • Experience with gold, platinum, silver, and other precious metals
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD designs, sketches, and technical drawings
  • Knowledge of diamonds and gemstones, including grading, handling, and setting techniques
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision craftsmanship
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or collaboratively
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in custom jewelry fabrication or high-end jewelry repair
  • Jewelry certifications (GIA, JAA, or equivalent) preferred

Schedule & Flexibility

  • Standard full-time schedule with flexibility to accommodate production priorities and client deadlines
  • In-office presence expected weekly to work at the bench, collaborate with designers, and participate in team reviews or training
  • Opportunity to manage workflow independently while contributing to a team-focused environment

Pay: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour
