Goldsmith Job Description
Position Summary
Our Goldsmith position will be responsible for creating, repairing, and modifying jewelry pieces made from gold and other precious metals. This role requires exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of various jewelry-making techniques and tools. You will work with both raw materials and existing pieces, ensuring high-quality results that meet client specifications and company standards.

Responsibilities
- Design and create custom jewelry pieces according to client requests and specifications.
- Repair, resize, and restore existing jewelry, including rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings.
- Work with various precious metals, including gold, silver, and platinum.
- Set and unset gemstones with precision and care.
- Perform soldering, filing, polishing, and finishing operations on jewelry pieces.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery for jewelry fabrication.
- Inspect and quality-check finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- Manage and track inventory of materials and supplies.
- Collaborate with sales staff and clients to understand and fulfill design requirements.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new techniques, and materials.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Goldsmith or in a similar jewelry-making role.
- Strong knowledge of jewelry design principles and construction.
- Proficiency in various jewelry-making techniques, including soldering, stone setting, and polishing.
- Experience working with different precious metals and gemstones.
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, and shape materials.
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Strong attention to detail and precision.
- Knowledge of jewelry repair and restoration.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a recognized jewelry design or goldsmith apprenticeship program is highly preferred.
- Certification in jewelry making or gemology is a plus.
Working Conditions
- This position primarily operates in a workshop environment.
- May involve working with small tools, chemicals, and equipment.
- Requires standing for extended periods and fine motor skills.
- Adherence to safety protocols and the use of protective equipment is mandatory.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $20.00 – $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
