JEWELRY SETTER will produce precious jewelry with a moderate degree of complexity using materials and instructions supplied by Tiffany & Co. to meet company quality standards within prescribed production times. Performs a wide range of duties associated with the manufacture of rings and other precious jewelry primarily working on all types of stone setting of precious stones.

Responsibilities

Jewelry Stone Setter must demonstrate the skill to set precious stones according to Tiffany & Co. quality standards. Setter will set pieces evenly on plane in cases of multiple stones, taking care as not to damage stones, delivering clean work in a timely manner. Setter will laser engrave rings and other jewelry products as business demands dictate. Setter will follow written instructions, verify accuracy of all work orders upon receipt and announce any discrepancies to management prior to starting work. All work orders must be checked for count; verifying jewelry is the proper type of material, stones are of the proper type and color and jewelry is the proper size, maintaining security of all assets at all times. Setter will perform other duties as deemed necessary by business needs.

 

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience working with complex jewelry in a precious metals industry
  • Knowledge of setting techniques as it relates to preparing jobs for setting: Pave, Prong setting and burnishing
  • Skilled techniques used to set gold, platinum and silver
  • Use of laser welder for assembly and repair
  • Ability to use chasing tools, burrs, gravers, burnishers and other jewelry related tools
  • Basic knowledge in the handling of diamond and stone material in jewelry production
  • Basic command of the English language, ability to communicate both written and spoken

 

Ability to read blueprints and work instructions

Ability to work in a high volume, fast paced work environment

Ability to work overtime

Basic computer skills

High school diploma or GED
