Based in the small town of Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire, Rachel Jeffrey Limited has been designing and hand-making unique designs and bespoke commissions of the highest quality for over 20 years.

The workshop at Rachel Jeffrey Jewellery is a small yet extremely busy, vibrant and essential part of the overall business. It also serves as the location for our Jewellery School, which has over 60 students per week of mixed ability from beginner to advanced level, plus a multitude of experiential and masterclass courses running throughout the year.

The workforce is a similarly small – yet highly skilled, effective and professional – team. The working environment is rich in both charm and character, and the whole staff are friendly, approachable and supportive.

The advertised role of an experienced Goldsmith / Tutor will be both interesting and varied, involving numerous strands of responsibility and involvement.

Full / Part time or Freelance considered.

Requirements for the Goldsmithing and Tutor role:

•Designing, drawing and creation of bespoke pieces, from initial design concepts through to final production, keeping to established timescales / budgets
•Excellent communication skills as the Goldsmithing role often requires meeting with clients and the owner / shop team to discuss bespoke items or alterations. The Tutoring requires the ability to use a range of delivery methods / techniques to enthuse and engage students
•Estimating / quoting: bespoke commissions
•Mounting / setting
•Repairs, restoring, resizing, re-tipping, re-modelling & polishing of a range of silver, gold & platinum pieces
•Providing technical and practical support to workshop / shop team
•Working on technical aspects of new designs and product development – troubleshooting potential designs issues
•Experience in creating wax masters and working with castings
•Workshop / tool maintenance, notification of workshop stock / material level.
•Silver and goldsmithing techniques paramount
•Lesson planning and demonstrations
•Conducting masterclasses on specific techniques
•Recording student attendance
•Handling of general administration duties such as re-enrolments, Health & Safety briefings, student material costs / records etc.
