Situated in the heart of historic Chichester, R.L. Austen is a family run jeweller which became one of the first independent jewellers in the UK to stock ROLEX watches, and have continued to do so for over 40 years. The business markets select ranges of high-quality jewellery (specialising in coloured gemstones, diamonds, and pearls), top name branded watches, clocks, and giftware. All the above merchandise is underpinned by a full range of support customer services, including that of jewellery repairs, valuations, and pearl re-stringing.

More recently, in 2015, the company moved to occupy a prestigious new premise, where they now have two retail floors which encompasses a luxurious watch showroom. Today, excitingly their next specific store investment is to commission a brand-new dedicated ROLEX watch service facility, and the need now is to identify two watchmakers.

Senior Watchmaker Job Role And Requirements

As the lead horologist on-site, you will be expected to liaise constantly with the company’s owners to ensure delivery of your departments watch servicing ambition.

You will thrive in an environment where procedure and perfection are never compromised, and you will be supported by the brands after-sales infrastructure to ensure that their brands clientele are ever satisfied.

There is to be a junior technical support specialist able to assist in certain watch repair & servicing processes. It is expected that your operational best example will encourage, enthuse, and inspire ever greater keenness for your future colleague to learn and become further qualified themselves.

A WOSTEP qualification would be ideal.

If already accredited by ROLEX this of course would be helpful, however there is an opportunity to gain specific Swiss training and sign off from the brand, should the necessary accreditation not already have been personally received.

Watch Technician Job Role And Requirements

The Watch Technician role is very much seen offering the appointed Senior Watchmaker support. There will absolutely be the opportunity to learn, and in time move forwards in the development of gaining further industry, and possibly later, brand certification.

This individual needs to demonstrate very good basic bench/watch servicing skills and ideally have the horological servicing basics in place.

Our client would also welcome a recent Watchmaking Graduate (who may have limited workshop time served), again who is keen to progress, train, and become further skilled in their chosen bench career profession.
