Job title: Boutique Watchmaker
Location: New York, New York
Duties: Serve as a primary resource for after sales servicing and complex repairs and reconditioning of watches. Ensure meticulous care and precision in the repair and maintenance of advanced complications, including accurate moon-phase indicators, power reserves, zero-reset mechanisms and chronograph, working on models in our exclusive Saxonia, 1815 and New Lange 1 collections, as well as any new watch products, as developed. Apply knowledge of mechanical hand-wound, automatic and chronograph movements to analyze and determine the source of the watch malfunction, dismantle the watch movement components, including wheels, balance staffs, operating levers, bridges and pinions. Assess any damage to watch components or casing, and determine what parts need to be replaced and, in some cases, what parts will need to be fabricated. Clean, repair, and reassemble all the movement components and perform the final adjustment of replaced parts. Test each watch piece, as repaired, to ensure that the watch operates according to the Brand’s high standards.
Requirements: 5 years of experience in position offered or related, including 5 years of experience with: all steps of watch repair, including dismantling, encasing, cleaning, repairing and reassembling watch movement components, including gear trains, balance wheels, operating levers, bridges and pinions, and final quality control; assembly of mechanical manual and automatic winding and movements, including working on complications, including moon-phase indicators, power reserves, zero-reset mechanisms and chronographs; and diagnosing watch problems by analyzing all checkpoints, identifying abnormalities, and implementing appropriate path of action to rehabilitate the movement within the brand specifications and giving an accurate cost estimate. Qualified applicant must have a Certificate or Diploma in Watch Mechanics or Watch Repair or Watch Making.
Salary: $85,000 – $120,000/year
