About Us:

Wade’s Jewelers is seeking a Master Jeweler to join our growing team! Wade’s is a family-owned full-service jewelry store with locations in Gibsonville and Southport, NC. Founded in 1947, Wade’s is owned by a bench jeweler and watchmaker whose core belief in quality craftsmanship and exceptional customer service have shaped all that we do. If chosen to fill the position, this jeweler will join our team of six jewelers in an environment that values collaboration, creativity, and excellence.

Bench Jeweler

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting gemstones (diamonds and colored gemstones of various shapes and sizes) in various setting styles, including: prong, channel, bead, bezel, etc.
  • Prong, channel, and bezel repairs (including re-tipping)
  • Assembly and fabrication; participation in the production portion of the custom jewelry process
  • Workshopping challenging/non-standard repairs with our team
  • Assisting our sales team with cleaning/checking customer jewelry
  • Completing repair and/or custom work in a timely manner, meeting deadlines with high quality craftmanship
  • Maintaining a clean, organized workspace and caring for tools and equipment properly
  • Occasionally interact with customers directly, requiring strong customer service skills

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as a bench jeweler
  • Ability to work with various metals including gold, silver, and platinum
  • Highly proficient at setting gemstones (including diamonds of all shapes and sizes & both precious and semi-precious gemstones) in a variety of setting styles
  • Proficiency with soldering and/or laser welding
  • Ability to fabricate jewelry pieces with excellence
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to work independently while also collaborating with the team on occasion
  • Ability and willingness to answer questions for our sales team regarding repairs required on customer jewelry
  • High school diploma or equivalent (jewelry trade school preferred)
  • Ability to pass a bench test for assessment
  • Willingness to relocate to EITHER Gibsonville or Southport, NC (*Relocation assistance available when applicable)

Preferred Skills (Not Required):

  • Wax carving
  • Casting experience
  • Engraving abilities

Schedule:

  • Full-time employees are expected to work 40 hours per week
  • Closed Sundays; Jewelers scheduled to work every other Saturday – if working on a Saturday, the employee will receive another day off during that week
  • Extended hours during the Christmas season

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
