Role: Watchmaker
Kalmar Antiques are seeking a passionate and dedicated watchmaker to join the team in their Sydney workshop. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join a team of industry specialists who have a genuine passion for the art of watchmaking.
Our OMEGA certified workshop specialises in the servicing, repair and restoration of Swiss antique, vintage and modern timepieces and high-end watch polishing.
If you are an enthusiastic, detail-oriented person who values working in a team environment, then this could be the position for you. We are accepting applications from watchmakers of all levels, whether you are completing your apprenticeship or fully qualified. The role could be adapted for a part-time or full-time basis, for the right applicant.

About the role
Reporting directly to our Head Watchmaker, you will assist with repairs, restorations, servicing and polishing of mechanical and quartz wrist watches and pocket watches.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the watchmaking workshop and polishing room to a high standard. You will be required to adhere to all operational and health and safety procedures.
Liaising with our Watch Repair Manager and Front of House staff where required. You will be responsible for updating our inventory and repairs management system.
You will be required to assist with occasional in-store watchmaking workshops and events and will act as a brand ambassador for Kalmar Antiques.
You will be confident to work independently and in collaboration with the broader team of watchmakers, jewellers, valuers, sales associates and suppliers.
Skills & experience:
- You will hold relevant qualifications in watchmaking or be currently enrolled in a watchmaking apprenticeship program
- Knowledge of Swiss watches and pocket watches
- Proficient computer skills
- Intermediate to proficient bench skills
- An interest in historical and vintage timepieces
