Apply today for Catbird’s paid apprenticeship program. This program prioritizes BIPOC talent to be trained in jewelry manufacturing! We’re seeking the future star production bench jewelers for this new and exciting program.
This is a structured, time-based program (4500 hours) where you’ll get on-the-job training while taking classes at schools recognized by the Dept of Education to learn additional techniques and industry-related topics. This is an entry-level program that will grow over the next 2.5 years. At the end of the program, you will have a solid foundation for production bench jeweler manufacturing. If you are an experienced jeweler, please see our current open roles! The program is full-time; Mon-Fri. External training is in the evening or on the weekends.
The program begins January 2022, application due by November 1st!
Candidate Requirements
•High School diploma, GED, or T.A.S.C.
•Driver’s License or able to work in the US
•Enjoys working with their hands, excels in the details, and has an upbeat, positive outlook.
•Must be able to work M-F and attend external instruction that may be during evenings or weekends.
•Must be able to work during our peak holiday season Oct-Dec.
•Must be detail-oriented
•Communication skills a bonus!
•Must be ok sitting for long periods of time, working in a noisy environment, able to hold small objects, and execute repetitive actions.
•Can work independently as well as part of a team.
In the program, you will
•Gain a strong understanding of jewelry production workflow; from raw materials to finished goods.
•Learn and apply jewelry manufacturing safety protocols.
•Learn and apply traditional and non-traditional jewelry techniques.
•Construct jewelry samples from instructions and in-person demos.
•Work with semi-precious and precious materialsLearn how to inspect pieces step by step for accuracy and quality.
•Work independently and as a team to meet production goals.
•Maintain clean and organized production equipment and work areas.
•Gain strong hands-on and mechanical aptitude.
•Ability to be a good decision maker with problem-solving skills.
