Title: Bench Jeweler
Job Purpose: Perform daily operations of jewelry shop and maintenance
Job Description:
The Bench Jeweler is responsible for providing outstanding repairs and inspection of merchandise at Leitzel’s Jewelry. This includes inspection of new merchandise, all necessary jewelry repairs, creation of new jewelry from raw materials, and all other necessary shop related tasks. A bench jeweler at Leitzel’s Jewelry must demonstrate overall jewelry knowledge, while balancing the administrative tasks.
Essential Bench Jeweler Skills
- Contributing to the effective movement of client repairs while maintaining a level of quality and turn-around time acceptable to the client
- Order and maintain jewelry supplies to ensure gold stock, findings, and loose stones are properly maintained and accounted for by accurately completing paperwork and properly storing materials
- Restore damaged or broken jewelry, select appropriate gems, clean and polish jewelry while maintaining quick turn-around times
- Repairs broken clasps, pins, rings, and other jewelry by soldering or replacing broken parts
- Reshapes and restyles old jewelry, following designs or instructions, using hand tools, equipment and laser welder
- Adheres to all safety-related procedures to reduce the risk of accidents
- Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Set up a repair shop independently
- Perform all classic repairs found in Geller Blue Book (sizing, chain repair, setting, etc.)
- Must have the ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Contributes to maximizing the financial return of precious metal recoveries (hard scrap, filings, sweeps, vacuum bags, etc.) by following proper asset recovery procedures
- Ensures consistency in communicating repair information by assisting in training store associates concerning repair policies and procedures
- Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality

- Identify areas where additional training is needed
- Actively search for and participate in training to increase knowledge of merchandise
- Ensure continuous improvement to skills and find efficiencies
Selling Floor Operations
- Providing first response to difficult associate and/or customer interactions
- Perform functions in an efficient manner, as directed by the supervisor
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
