Full Job Description
This opening is for an entry level to advanced bench technician. Very advanced jewelers or watchmakers may apply with a re-negotiated job description based on your resume.
This position is in a 600 square foot wholesale service lab with 11 work stations ranging from advanced jewelry and watch benches to 3D printing, CAD, CAM, CNC, lapidary table, full gemological lab and micro machine shop. We also have a great selection of reference and training books, DVDs, etc. You will be working as my right hand in the shop as we expand the business to add more benches and grow our team.

At least one year of experience working at a jewelry or watch repair bench is required. May approve equivalent education and experience upon discussion.
FOR JEWELERS ONLY:
Must be comfortable with small solders, and able or willing to learn complicated repair operations involving multiple solders, laser welds, pulse welds, and/or metal reshaping.
Prong tipping, ring sizing, chain repair, stone replacement, basic engraving, and finishing operations. Some help with custom work will be needed at times.
FOR WATCHMAKERS ONLY:
Must be able to perform basic fault finding on mechanical and quartz movements, identify movements and all components, perform basic maintenance such as battery and gasket changes, gasket lubrication, crystals, etc.
Crystal replacements, movement replacements, parts replacements and identification, estimate building, bracelet sizing, etc.
Advanced work in mechanical and quartz movements will usually be my responsibility unless you are very comfortable inside of expensive luxury timepieces.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Shop safety and security, confidentiality with clients and account holders, occasional delivery or retrieval runs, supply orders and some customer service.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED
College or university a plus.
Industry related education and training is a huge bonus.
