Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced bench jeweler who LOVES taking something broken and restoring it to something new! Candidates with strong communication skills who can work as a team with others as well as make customers feel welcome in our store will do very well! Ultimately, you will ensure that customers jewelry leave our store in better condition than it came in to us!
Start as an Apprentice Jeweler completing administrative/clerical tasks and polishing jewelry, and work toward becoming a Bench Jeweler. We are also looking for candidates with knowledge of stone setting, sizing, polishing and jewelry repair.
Desired Bench Skills:
•Chain and clasp repair
•Re-tipping or re-building prongs
•Setting stones of various shapes and sizes
•Proper rhodium plating
•Soldering cracks and breaks in jewelry
•Restoring an old ring into something new and wearable
•Working with platinum in terms of sizing or re-tipping prongs.
•Working with a laser welder to conduct repairs.
•Performing minor ring repair and other jewelry repairs
•Custom design and creation of pieces
Position Requirements:
•High school degree or equivalent preferred but not required
•3 years Bench Jeweler (or relevant) experience in skilled trades working with fine metals
•Passing a qualified bench test to assess current jeweler level
•Excellent organizational skills & detail orientation
•Customer service minded individuals with a high standard for quality work
•Varying hours including some weekends
•AJP and/or New Approach education/training is a plus!
