Role Description

This full-time Master Watchmaker role at DOXA is an on-site position based in Boca Raton, FL.

YOUR CALL TO ADVENTURE!

DOXA is a family-owned Swiss company, founded in 1889 and known the world over for its legendary orange dial diving watches. We are building our American home base in West Boca Raton, and we are looking for the watchmaker who will sit at the center of it.

This is the bench where our American story gets made. Every watch we sell here passes through your hands on its way out, and every watch that comes home for service passes through them again. You will work across our calibers and across eras — current production in the morning, a SUB that has been on someone’s wrist since the seventies in the afternoon. The vintage pieces that come back to us have been diving, sailing, and living hard lives, and they arrive with stories.

You will be our only watchmaker in the United States. That means the bench is yours — how it’s set up, how the work flows across it, what standard leaves the building. It also means the responsibility is yours. If that sounds like too much, it probably is. If it sounds like the job you’ve been waiting for, read on.

Watch Repair

What You’ll Do

Assembly. Assemble watches across our various calibers, to DOXA standard.

Straps and Bracelets. Fit straps and bracelets of all types to sold orders before they ship — the last thing that happens to a watch before it goes to a dealer or a client.

Service and Repair. Service and repair watches of different types and different eras, from current production to vintage pieces that have been in the water for fifty years.

Testing. Perform timing and rate tests, and water resistance and pressure testing, on every watch that passes the bench.

Polishing and Refinishing. Restore cases and bracelets — careful, proportionate work that respects the original lines.

Quality Control. Support quality control across incoming and outgoing stock, and set the standard for what we consider finished.

Parts and Bench. Keep spare parts, tools, and the bench organized, and tell us what you need ordered from Switzerland before you run out of it.

Working with After Sales. Work alongside our Aftersales Service Coordinator on job status, timelines, and what to tell a client who is waiting — and help with packing and shipping when the day calls for it.

Who Thrives Here

We would rather be honest with you now than surprised with each other in month two.

This is not a large service center with a parts runner, a polisher, and someone else to handle the paperwork. Our American office is small, and everyone here does a bit of everything. Most of your day is at the bench— but some days there is a shipment to get out, and the person nearest the boxes helps pack them. There is no work here that is beneath anyone, including us.

You’ll do well here if:

  • You are precise and rigorous, and you would rather send a watch back to the bench than out the door.
  • You are methodical and careful, with the manual dexterity this work demands and the patience it asks for.
  • You like variety — different calibers, different decades, no two weeks identical.
  • You can work alone without going quiet. You’ll be the only watchmaker here, which means telling us what you need, what’s running late, and what a client should be told.
  • You want to build something rather than inherit it. The way our American service operation runs is not settled, and the person at this bench will have a great deal to say about it.

This may not be the role for you if you want a narrow bench with the workflow already defined and someone else owning the decisions. That’s a perfectly good thing to want. It is just not what this is.

Qualifications

  • Formal watchmaking training — WOSTEP, AWCI certification, a Swiss CFC d’horloger, or a graduate of an accredited watchmaking program. Equivalent bench experience considered.
  • Professional experience as a watchmaker, ideally including production or assembly work.
  • Demonstrated ability across mechanical and quartz calibers.
  • Experience servicing vintage pieces is a significant advantage.
  • Comfort with timing and water resistance testing equipment.
  • Precision, rigor, and genuine manual skill.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with a small team.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • A love of dive watches will serve you well here.

What We Offer

A modern, well-equipped bench in a new office, and the chance to set it up the way a watchmaker actually wants it.

Continued training and development, including direct access to our watchmaking team in Switzerland.

A real role in building the brand in America. DOXA USA is young, our service operation is being built now, and the person at this bench will shape how it works for years.

A small team that will know your name, your work, and what you need — and a brand with a history worth taking care of.
