Position Summary

As a Small Parts Mechanical Assembler, you will be responsible for assembling, troubleshooting and repairing small precision instrument components and assemblies in a manufacturing environment. The clock-like instruments are designed for measuring the inclination in a borehole using a pressure barrel deployed by a wireline. This position requires excellent mechanical assembly aptitude, steady hands, attention to detail, problem solving skills, patience, and the ability to assemble components using an eye loupe or a microscope. Work schedule is Monday – Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

Responsibilities
Assemble precision clock/timing instruments.

Assemble and balance angle indicators.

Disassemble, clean, troubleshoot, repair, and test returned units.

Use hand tools, jeweler and power lathes, and sand paper, solvents, steel wool, and test fixtures.

Use working knowledge of fine mechanisms to produce, troubleshoot, and repair instruments.

Meet or exceed department metrics including but not limited to safety, quality, delivery and cost.

Qualifications
Have working knowledge of fine mechanisms to produce, troubleshoot, and repair instruments.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation such as routers and work instructions.

Ability to perform intricate assembly, disassembly and repairs.

Ability to use and work with eye loupes, microscopes, hand tools, jeweler and power lathes, and sand paper, solvents, steel wool, and test fixturesHigh School diploma or equivalent.

2 or more years of experience in a small parts mechanical assembly function or an equivalent background.

Ability to work as a member of team with common goals.

Must be able to communicate, converse with, and exchange information by means of the spoken word.

Able to operate a computer and other office machinery using finger dexterity for typing and writing.

Working knowledge of ERP and MRP systems such Oracle and or JDE is a plus.

Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel is a plus

Prior experience with eye loupes and microscopes.

Prior experience using basic hand and power tools.

Patience, focus and excellent hand eye coordination.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand, sit, bend, and reach particularly for sustained periods of time.

Repeated bending, stooping, full range of motion required for this position.

Visual acuity to view a computer screen and to work on and with fine mechanical parts and assemblies.

Ability to lift to 40 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time
