WATCHMAKER
Independently-owned Swiss Watch Manufacturer
Manchester City Centre
Competitive salary + superb working conditions + brand new workshop!
Our client has recently supercharged its investment in its British subsidiary, and commissioned a new HQ in Northern England. Nicely settled within its city centre destination of choice, the plan now is to open a new Service Centre, as after-sales service, like every other group function, is brought back in-house.
Fortunately, with goodwill aplenty, the brand has not rushed into any hasty decisions, and the space allocated for its first UK workshop has been thoughtfully taking shape. Equipment has been purchased, and with guidance from their factory in Switzerland, momentum to open this facility is now rapidly gathering pace.
This role, therefore, is above and beyond the norm, and the search is on for a Watchmaker who is so much more than simply talented.
To be considered for this prestigious role, you need to demonstrate an array of watchmaking capabilities which could best be encapsulated as a highly capable all-rounder.
As far as certification is concerned, a familiarity with Swiss brand(s) would be helpful, and any recognised BHI / WOSTEP industry accreditation would be much respected.
However, experience is often the crucial differentiator when it comes to bench work, and trade exposure, as well as courses run by Service Centres and the brands themselves, will again be of great interest to our client.
Initially ensconced within a team, most of whom are new to the brand and the business, these are the most exciting of times.
The vision initially is for the first Watchmaker to enjoy the workshop set-up phase; moving forward, a Repairs/Spares Administrator would be hired to facilitate your future daily focus on bench work.
Specific brand training will of course be provided, as well as the opportunity for observation time alongside a company Master Watchmaker, who will inculcate the most precise and correct after-sales standards.
Our client already anticipates ongoing investment and headcount growth within this new workshop, and therefore personal development opportunities, whether in terms of expanding the service processes undertaken within the UK, or indeed building and leading a small team of equally talented and capable watch technicians, are sure to follow.
The culture of the brand is focused on being ‘Independent’, appreciating that to be special requires the extraordinary. Surrounded as they are by global entities – efficient, exacting and ever expectant – their single point of difference is ‘personal service’. Whether you are a wearer or a seller, they aim to be the best within the industry.
Jolyon Marshall, Managing Director at JML, is eagerly anticipating reviewing your Watchmaking credentials, so please forward your CV directly to him, to get your application underway.
