We are growing our Fine Jewelry and Watches division and seeking a full-time WATCHMAKER/HOROLOGIST to report to our headquarters in MOONACHIE, NJ!

Horology involves everything having to do with timekeeping and watches. A horologist specializes in the art and science of timekeeping. The main responsibilities of a watchmaker is to authenticate and repair watches. A horologist must have great vision, an attention to detail and the ability to be precise.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

•Assess all timepieces to verify authenticity as well as applicable certificates and packaging
•Evaluate and document overall condition of items
•Identify and document timepiece serial numbers
•Perform independent and collaborative authentication research
•Review the functionality of timepieces & conduct quality control on all timepieces sold prior to shipping to the customer
•Liaise with department manager regarding organization and status updates to ensure department objectives are met
•Source watch parts when needed
•Water resistance testing- test watches to ensure they are water resistant
•Testing for rate deviation on mechanical watches using the timing machine
•Partner with department manager to research, document, create and complete authentication brand guides for future training needs
•Assist with authentication during showroom appointments
•Special projects (as needed)

Expectations are as follows, but not limited to:

•Maintain a clean working environment, free of dust and debris
•Maintain equipment & tools in good working order
•Skilled at making needed repairs to watches
•Determine proper equipment for setting up a repair shop
•Attend all appropriate training classes
•Have an understanding of the functions of other departments
•Use the Fashionphile Admin website proficiently
•Respond to any tasks, tags, emails or Slack messages in a timely manner (one business day)
•Work professionally within a team as well as independently
•Effectively manage time and operate with efficiency and accuracy
•Ability to correctly estimate repair costs

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

•Minimum two years experience in the watchmaking field
•Excellent time management & organizational skills
•Excellent written and verbal communication, including full proficiency in grammar and spelling
•Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality
•Detail oriented with mechanical aptitude
