About the job
About the Role
Grand Central Watch is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Watch Technician to join our team in New York City.
This is a hands-on technical position focused on battery replacements, bracelet and strap adjustments, minor repairs, testing, and other routine watch services.
The ideal candidate has previous experience working with watches and is comfortable handling luxury timepieces carefully and professionally. This position does not require the advanced movement-service skills of a fully trained watchmaker.
This is also an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong interest in watches who wants to develop additional technical skills and grow within the watch industry.

Responsibilities
- Replace watch batteries on a wide variety of watches.
- Size and adjust metal watch bracelets by adding or removing links.
- Replace and adjust watch straps and bracelets.
- Replace spring bars, pins, screws, buckles, and other small components.
- Perform minor watch repairs and adjustments.
- Open and properly close various types of watch cases.
- Inspect watches for obvious mechanical or functional issues.
- Perform basic watch testing and quality-control procedures.
- Assist with water-resistance and pressure testing when appropriate.
- Clean watches and bracelets as needed.
- Properly handle and protect customers’ watches while they are being serviced.
- Identify repairs that should be referred to a senior watchmaker.
- Assist our watchmakers and service department with basic technical tasks.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and professional work area.
Qualifications
* Previous experience working with watches strongly preferred.
* Experience changing watch batteries and sizing watch bracelets.
* Comfortable working with small tools and components.
* Good mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to work carefully with expensive and delicate watches.
* Familiarity with luxury watch brands preferred.
* Basic understanding of quartz and mechanical watches.
* Ability to recognize when a repair is beyond the technician level and should be referred to a watchmaker.
* Dependable, organized, and able to work efficiently in a busy environment.
Preferred Experience
Experience working in a watch store, jewelry store, watch repair shop, authorized service center, or similar environment is preferred.
Formal watchmaking education is not required for this position. We are more interested in finding someone who has good hands, mechanical ability, attention to detail, and experience performing routine watch services correctly.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is comfortable performing everyday watch-service tasks but, equally importantly, understands the level of care required when handling valuable timepieces. The right candidate understands that even a relatively simple job must be performed carefully, correctly, and professionally.
We are also looking for a team player, good attitude; a good addition to our close knit company culture.
