Swiss Watch Repair

Key Responsibilities:

  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries without damaging the watch case or movement, including handling different types of case backs (pop-off, screw-down, and screw-fastened).
  • Tool Maintenance: Ensure all watchmaker tools are well-maintained and keep the workspace organized and clean.
  • Micrometer Use: Accurately operate a micrometer for precise measurements and adjustments.
  • Pressure Testing: Conduct pressure tests to verify water resistance, diagnose issues, and repair cases when necessary.
  • Movement Setup: Accurately set perpetual calendar movements and confirm correct operation.
  • Stone Setting: Carefully set foil-backed stones with attention to precision.
  • Movement Replacement: Replace 2-3 hand and chronograph movements efficiently, ensuring all parts are correctly assembled.
  • Crystal Replacement: Replace watch crystals and verify successful pressure tests post-replacement.
  • Pin Replacement: Replace various types of pins in watch bands and cases, ensuring structural soundness and aesthetic quality.
  • Cleanliness & Precision: Maintain cleanliness of dials and hands during disassembly and reassembly to ensure proper watch performance.
  • Parts Identification: Identify movement or case back numbers to locate necessary parts for repairs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous watchmaking experience is helpful but not required for apprentices.
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and precision.
    • Comfort working with small, delicate components.
    • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and repairing intricate issues.
    • Good communication skills with a focus on customer service.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for long periods and manipulate small parts with precision tools.
  • Good eyesight for detailed work.

Working Conditions:

  • Workshop setting with specialized tools and equipment.
  • Occasional customer interactions regarding repairs and maintenance.
