High end watches are one of the many commodities to have seen a large surge of demand with a dwindling supply that has not been helped from the ongoing pandemic. Pre-owned watch sales are sky-rocketing, causing several new start-ups to come rushing in to become the ultimate marketplace for second hand watches. Sales of pre-owned watches are anticipated to double in the next few years and be half the size of the market of new watch sales – an increase from a 1/3 the size of todays market. Several new businesses and investors are raising money to cash-in on this explosion of sales and interest. Since top brand luxury watchmakers such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and Richard Mille keep their stock to a limited production to enhance their value and exclusivity, people have looked to buying, selling, and flipping secondhand and vintage watches. With demand expected to continue to exceed supply, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top as the premier place to buy authentic and certified pre-owned watches.
