Spicer Greene Jewelers is an upscale, full service, family owned jewelry store located in downtown Asheville. We have been consistently designated the “Best Jeweler in Western North Carolina”. We are looking for a positive and passionate individual to join our team as a Polisher/Finisher.

The Polisher/Finisher is responsible for polishing precious metal jewelry pieces, including silver, platinum, and gold to Spicer Greene quality and production standards.

The position is responsible for the polishing, cleaning, LASER marking and electroplating of all jewelry items and serves as the final point in the production process prior to quality control.

Key Responsibilities:

•Polish precious jewelry pieces in silver, gold, and platinum, with and without stones, following Spicer Greene quality and production standards within prescribed production times.

•Understand the use and effects of various compounds and wheels for the finished polishing.

•Perform related polishing duties such as, operating lapping machines, racking, and washing products as needed.

•Work in a team environment maintaining a positive and respectful workplace.

•Returns jewelry found not ready for finishing to the appropriate jewelers.

•Participate and carry out team tasks by assisting co-workers with production, training, and any other team requirements.

•Work safety at all times by consistently following safe work procedures for polishers, as well as all safety procedures required at your worksite.

•Cleaning all polished and engraved products using ultrasonic cleaner, steam machine, hand washing, solvent, and dryer as needed.

•Rhodium plating of all pieces for jewelry as needed. Maintain rhodium plating room cleanliness and equipment.

•Clean and vacuum out polishing machines nightly for recovery of materials.

•Operating a LASER marking unit for hallmarking and material qualities.

•Special projects and other tasks as requested. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Skills/knowledge:

•Knowledge of high speed equipment.
•Must be able to read and understand instructions to complete repairs.
•Must be willing to train and share knowledge and experience.
•Must be organized and able to communicate with others.

Experience/education:
•High School diploma or equivalent.
•Some Jewelry making experience is preferred.

Physical demands:
•Bending, sitting, lifting, and standing based on the need of the business.
•Standing and/or sitting for extended and long periods of time, up to 100% of shift or over time.

Work environment:
Specific vision abilities that may be required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Vocal communications is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and/or to communicate with team members.
Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and in an environment with loud machinery.

Pay: $12.00 – $17.00 per hour
