Overview

Stone Setter must demonstrate the skills to set precious stones to meet the company quality standards within prescribed production times.

Essential Duties:

Setter will follow written instructions, verify accuracy of all work orders upon receipt and announce any discrepancies to management prior to starting work. All work orders must be checked for count.
Sets precious or semiprecious, stones in rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets, brooches, and other jeweled items using hand tools.
Cuts files setting to accommodate stones, using files, chisels and both hand drills and flex shaft motors.
Set uniformly on plane in cases of multiple stones
Verify jewelry is the proper type of material, stones are of the proper type and color and jewelry is the proper size, maintaining security of all assets at all times.
Positions stone in setting and fixes in place by pressing prongs around stone, raising retaining metal ridge around stone, tapping edges of setting with setting tool hammer and forcing metal against stone.
Handle stones with care to avoid breakage and delivering quality work in a timely manner. Examines union of stone setting, using magnifying glass.
Drill holes in settings preparatory to setting stones in pieces.
Other setting related tasks as the job requires.

QUALIFICATIONS

3-5 years of experience working with complex fine jewelry in precious metals.
Expertise in setting platinum, gold, and silver jewelry.
Expertise in the following setting techniques: pre beaded pave, hand pave with bright cut, bezel set, channel, shared prong, French V split, bar set, scallop, fishtail, burnish.
Proficiency in using burs, flexible shafts, microscopes, gravers, burnishers, French beading tools, millgraning tools, GRS Graver max G8, utilize micro motors, and other setting tools.
Knowledge in handling the Diamonds, Sapphires, Rubies, Semiprecious stones in jewelry production.
Basic command of the English language, ability to communicate both written and spoken.
Ability to read blueprints and work instructions in stone maps.
Ability to work in a high volume, fast paced production work environment.
Ability to work overtime if required.
Skill to consistently meet high quality standards.
Preferably High school diploma or GED.

Schedule 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (flexible)
