About Us

Krekeler Jewelers is a family-owned jeweler known for quality craftsmanship and personal service. We just celebrated 88 years in business. We’re looking for a skilled Goldsmith to run our bench and help customers keep and restore the pieces they love.

About the Role

You’ll handle jewelry repair, restoration, and custom fabrication, from quick ring sizings to complex rebuilds and custom pieces. You’ll work with fine and alternative metals, diamonds, and gemstones, using hand tools and equipment like a laser welder. You’ll report directly to the owner, work closely with our sales team, and help customers when your expertise is needed. The schedule is steady and daytime only: Monday through Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm.

What You’ll Do

  • Repair and restore rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and more, including prongs, shanks, clasps, hinges, links, and pins
  • Size rings, and set or replace diamonds and gemstones
  • Create custom pieces using wax carving and casting
  • Reshape and restyle older jewelry to a design or a customer’s request
  • Clean, polish, and finish pieces to a high standard
  • Inspect incoming work and let the team know when a piece needs additional repairs
  • Manage your job schedule so work is finished by its promised date
  • Keep repair paperwork and shop inventory up to date, and reorder supplies when needed
  • Keep a clean, organized, and safe bench, including proper chemical storage

What You Bring

  • At least 3 years of bench goldsmith experience, or comparable skilled-trade experience with fine metals, precision tools, diamonds, and gemstones
  • Proficient with torch and laser
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work
  • The ability to prioritize several jobs at once and meet deadlines
  • Clear, professional communication with coworkers and customers
  • Comfort working on your own and as part of a small team

Nice to Have

  • CAD experience
  • Industry credentials (such as JA Bench Jeweler certification or GIA coursework)

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This job involves sitting at a bench for long periods and close-up work with a loupe, headband magnifier, or microscope, as well as industry-specific machinery. It also requires good manual dexterity, occasional bending and reaching, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Shop work can involve heat, fumes, chemicals, and machinery, and safety protocols and equipment are provided.
