This can be a troubling time to work in a customer facing role. At Shane Co., we take the health of both our employees and customers very seriously. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve gone above and beyond to implement new health and safety measures in all of our stores and offices. This includes: requiring temperature checks for both employees and customers, providing branded masks to all of our employees, requiring all customers to wear masks while in-store, having disposable masks, hand sanitizer, and gloves available at all times, extra cleaning and sanitizing, including cleaning surfaces between each customer interaction and the Synexis® Biodefense System (which is the state-of-the-art microbial reduction system designed to clean air and surfaces by reducing the presence of microbes in indoor spaces).

Position Overview

As a leader in the jewelry industry for four generations and as the largest family-owned jeweler in the U.S., Shane Co. serves our customers with an unparalleled standard of excellence. Our people get to share in our customers’ milestone moments such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and everything in between. We are looking for passionate, fun, vibrant individuals who want to be a part of our dynamic company culture in a luxury retail environment. The jeweler will perform all requested and necessary work on jewelry to include: Stone setting, Sizing, Customizing Shane Co. jewelry, Laserstar/ Rofin Benchtop Laser Welder use (no previous experience necessary) , Soldering, Polishing, Best Built engraver use (no previous experience necessary), Retipping, and other general repair work consistent with Shane Co. standards of quality, service, and timeliness.

It is important for us to be available when our customers need us so we do work weekends, however our hours of operation are the best in the business (We close at 5pm on Saturday and Sunday). You accrue 3 weeks of vacation in your first year! In addition, you also earn sick days and we are closed on 7 major holidays (unlike most retailers), AND you get an additional floating holiday each year AND we pay you for one volunteer day per year (you can join us in volunteering for our company’s work with the Kids In Need Foundation or you can volunteer at an organization of your choice)! The longer you work with us, the more vacation time you earn!

Responsibilities

•Ensure the quality of Company merchandise and make and provide accurate assessments of merchandise quality and condition.
•Provide accurate assessments of merchandise quality and condition so that the company may make proper decisions on the best course of action.
•Maintain the shop and personal workspace in a clean, organized, presentable, and efficient manner.
•Maintain, operate, service and clean as necessary all shop equipment and tools ensuring at all times safe operation and maintenance.
•Maintain and request as necessary all shop supplies, to include tools and findings, adhering to best shop practices. This includes the proper consumption and recovery of findings as per Company direction.
•Constantly pursue personal and shop improvement and development by learning, sharing, and updating yourself on new and more effective and/or efficient jeweler skills, processes, and methods. Work professionally, efficiently, and courteously with all Store and Company staff, fostering teamwork and respect.
•Communicate issues or concerns through appropriate channels.

Qualifications

•Bench Experience preferred.
•A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
•Must have weekend and evening availability.
