Bench Jeweler / Shop Coordinator

Full Job Description

We are hiring a full-time bench jeweler and shop coordinator. The ideal candidate will serve as the expert when taking in and delivering client repairs. They work closely with sales professionals and support the jewelry and watch repair teams by managing all functions related to processing repair and custom orders including management of parts inventory and equipment/tools. The position involves customer contact and requires strong communication, organizational skills, and great attention to detail.

We will be building a brand new Repair shop and the chosen candidate will be given full authority to make sure the shop has everything they need to affectively and efficiently preform all their needed duties. The ideal candidate must be an experienced Jeweler with several years’ experience repairing gold, silver and platinum jewelry. We are searching for a creative and talented team member who is proficient at performing jewelry repair on all types of jewelry.

The ideal candidate is highly skilled, quality oriented and motivated to produce the finest product for our customers. The ideal candidate is willing to think outside the box when random unique jobs come into the store. Must be able to interact with customers professionally, respectfully and knowledgeably to provide a positive experience that exceeds the customers expectation.

Your compensation will depend on your experience and abilities, 50-75K annually, plus accrued paid vacation time. We would ask for a bench test to gauge your skills before offering you a position.

General Responsibilities:

•Log or track repair and custom orders, notes, updates for servicing into the POS system per company standards
•Facilitate and ensure repair and custom check-in and check-out processes are being followed
•Accurately document client property
•Complete quality control inspections on completed jobs
•Correspond with appropriate Team members on quality control issues
•Ensure that client service issues are handled in a timely fashion to guarantee complete client satisfaction
•Work as a team with the sales professionals and management in the store to create the best possible experience for clients and coworkers.

Required Experience: (Minimum of 5 Years)

•Ability to complete a bench test for assessment purposes
•An ability to receive constructive feedback

•A track record of successes in the jewelry industry
•General bench jewelry repair
•Diamond/Gemstone setting (Ability to set all shapes of stones)
•Skilled working on gold, silver and platinum
•Jewelry soldering and assembly (rings, chain, earrings, etc.)
•Assembling of head/shanks
•Ring sizing
•Engraving
•Retip prongs
•Ability to work in a fast high paced environment
•Attention to detail is a must
•Bracelet repair/links
•Repairing Chains
•Channel setting straight and curved channels
•Polishing/Refinishing
•Rhodium plating
•Re-shanking rings
•Stone tightening
•General shop cleaning and maintenance
•Excellent communication skills and professional
•Highly organized with great attention to detail
•Basic computer skills
•Flexibility to work overtime and/or modified work schedules as needed by the business
•Knowledge/ability to check for porosity, defects or quality

Preferred but NOT Required Experience:

•Jewelry CAD Design
•Ability to design jewelry from scratch
•Jewelry Casting
•Simple fabrication
•Ability to take a job from raw casting to finishing.
•Laser Welding experience
