Cornwall Gold is a multi-award-winning business where for thirty years we have offered the perfect experience for people to treat themselves to something special whilst on holiday in the Cornwall. Our venue celebrates the heritage of Cornwall, enabling visitors to explore Cornwall’s last working Victoria Tin Mill; Tolgus Mill. Our visitors can take a part of the Cornish tin mining history home with them by purchasing a piece from our vast semi-precious, precious and uniquely Cornish jewellery.

We’re looking for someone to join our team working with customers to help us deliver the best service that they’ve ever received whilst maximising sales. The role is a part of our Cornwall Gold jewellery workshop team in our showroom near Redruth. You’ll be responsible for making our customers feel welcome whilst repairing, adjusting or manufacturing a perfect piece of jewellery to treasure.

Here’s more information about the day to day responsibilities, the kind of person we’re looking for and some quotes on what it’s like to be a part of Cornwall Gold.

Responsibilities

•First and foremost, you will be working with our customers to ensure that they love their time at Cornwall Gold and go home with jewellery that they will cherish forever.

•Discussing repairs, adjustments, cleaning and jewellery design and manufacturing needs with our customers.

•Providing estimates and quotes to customers verbally and by email if required.

•Completing work in an efficient and professional manner, delivering repairs, adjustments, cleaning and manufacturing requests within the committed timeframe and keeping customers informed of unforeseen delays.

•Completing all administrative work associated with the workshop including invoicing, stock and supplies control, customer follow-up and monitoring and reporting on sales and budgets.

•Keeping our workshop looking its best – making sure it is clean, tidy and displays the artisanship of jewellery creation.

About you

•An experienced jeweller, you’ll need to be skilled in ring-sizing, re-shanking, reshaping and performing general soldering repairs such as chain work.

•You will need to supply and utilise some of your own tools and equipment to fulfil customer requests and jobs.

•Experience creating new mounts, melting down and using customers’ existing pieces to create new treasures and discussing commission pieces are a part of this exciting role.

•Re-tipping and associated setting work would be beneficial for this role, though not essential.

Experience working in a fast-paced, customer facing role performing steam cleaning, polishing and rhodium plating is also necessary.

•Our workshop is a visible part of our visitor and customer experience at Cornwall Gold. In this role you will interact and engage directly with our visitors and customers, advising on repairs and alterations. You will love working with people and thrive on delivering brilliant customer service.

•Formal qualifications in Goldsmithing and Jewellery design and manufacture would be desirable for this role, though not mandatory. Critically, you need to have a few years’ experience gained in a workshop working with a range of materials and to be able to perform tasks such as repairs, resizing, adjustments without supervision or assistance.
