Would you pay $15,000 for a pair of contact lenses made with 18 diamonds on a white or yellow gold border around the lens? Dr. Chandrashekhar Chawan is hoping you will.

After his wife had precious gemstones implanted in her teeth, he got the idea for making these diamond contact lenses. He plans to manufacture only 3,996 pairs of these dazzling lenses and market them through his new La Ser eyejewelry line.

To keep these contacts from damaging your eyes, Dr. Chawan used Boston Scleral lenses, which are typically used to treat eye illnesses, to prevent the lenses from touching the cornea. However many professionals are skeptical about these designer contacts, especially since they are not yet FDA approved.
