Could Gold go to over $2500 per ounce? Gold set a new record Tuesday, hitting an day high of $1,109 an ounce in trading after surging past its previous record high of $1,100 an ounce, which was set Monday. Gold held at a level that was 10 percent higher than one month ago and 50 percent higher than one year ago. The jump was, in part, due to continued pressure on the US dollar and the India Reserve Bank’s recent $6.9 billion gold purchase.
