JOB DUTIES:
•Use hand tools and machines to produce carvings/designs from metal, stone and other materials to design jewelry and other objects
•Metal arts workers design metal jewelry, and create them from gold, silver, copper, pewter and other metals.
•Perform basic jewelry repairs such as chain solder, sizing, setting gemstones and diamonds.
•May perform polishing and finishing, minor watch repairs, change batteries, adjust straps, and replace pins and clasps.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
•Completion of high school
•Trade certificate/apprenticeship or training certificate or college diploma in the related field
OR
•A minimum of 2 years of experience in the related field
Skills:
•Repetitive tasks, manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination
•Ability to distinguish between colours, 20/20 vision
•Knowledge of safe handling of material, tools and equipment is required.
•Ability to work with gemstones and diamonds.
•Organized, accurate, and detail oriented.
•Bondable, punctual and responsible.
