Position: Jeweler

General Purpose: Responsible for performing a variety of fine jewelry making and repair functions. Employee is responsible for performing complex setting of gem stones, designing new jewelry pieces, cuts and designs wax models, assists in casting and repairs, polishes and finishes jewelry.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

•Performs ring sizing and repairs to a variety of jewelry, keeping record of time and materials used.
•Polishes and finishes fine jewelry.
•Sets all types of settings, stock pillar and all custom work.
•Maintains records of all findings used and cost sheets prepared on all repair jobs.
•Fills out cost sheet on completed jobs and logs out job in finished book.
•Communicates with customers in regard to repair work on jewelry design issues.
•Contacts vendors and orders supplies.
•Transfers jobs in ASC software
•Participates in the semi annual inventory process.
•Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

•Knowledge of the methods, procedures, tools and materials used in goldsmithing.
•Knowledge of the different vendors available for ordering materials.
•Knowledge of the methods and procedures used by Hyde Park in receiving and providing estimates to customers for jewelry repairs and newly designed jewelry.
•Knowledge of methods and processes associated with performing goldsmithing work.
•Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the goldsmithing trade.
•Skill in the use of a variety of goldsmithing hand tools and machinery.
•Ability to operate a variety of equipment/machinery used in goldsmithing.
•Ability to maintain records and reports.
•Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
•Ability to perform arithmetical calculations.
•Ability to operate equipment listed below.

Education or Formal Training:

•J.A. Bench Certification.

Experience:

•Five years or more experience designing, setting and repairing fine jewelry.

Material and Equipment Directly Used:

•A large variety of hand tools used in goldsmithing work.
•Copy machine
•Telephone
•ASC software

Job Type: Full-time
