Vacancy for Bench Jeweler (Atlanta, GA)

With a history that dates back over 75 years, Pickens, Inc. Jewelers, operates a wholesale jewelry repair business located in the Buckhead community of Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, we also operate a full-service retail jewelry store. We have the ability to perform any type of repair, as well as create custom designs. Our experienced ownership and our skilled jewelers enable us to serve our customers with confidence and to provide quality products and repair services. We feature designs that will stand the test of time.

Responsibilities:
Repair jewelry in a fast-paced environment.

• Set, mount, and secure stones in place.
• Work with gold, silver, platinum, and precious or semi-precious stones.
• Make repairs, such as enlarging or reducing ring sizes, soldering pieces of jewelry together, and replacing broken clasps and mountings.
• Perform quality inspections on all completed work to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Skills:

Ability to perform various jewelry techniques to repair, assemble, and polish; including stone setting, sizing, specialty settings, re-tipping, etc.

· Knowledge of various metals, including gold, platinum, and silver.

· Ability to work with diamonds and colored gem stones.

· Knowledge of jeweler’s tools, machinery, and equipment.

· Ability to sit for extended periods throughout the day.

· Chain and clasp repair

· Re-tipping prongs

· Setting stones

· Creating stone mounts

· Performing channel and platinum rebuilds

· Performing minor ring repair and other jewelry repairs

· Custom design and creation of pieces

Position Requirements:

• 1-3 years Bench Jeweler (or relevant) experience in skilled trades working with fine metals
• Excellent organizational skills & detail orientation
• Customer service minded individuals with a high standard for quality work
