The Watch Technician will report to the Head Watchmaker, with key areas of responsibility including the reauthentication of watch returns, quartz battery replacements, and liaising between operation coordinators and watchmaking expertise. Success in this role will be achieved through leveraging a can-do attitude and meeting daily quotas.
•Accountable for authenticating timepieces that are flowing through our customer returns channel
•Accountable for managing communication between watchmakers and coordinators, translating watch nuance
•Responsible for servicing and authenticating quartz battery watches, as directed by the Head Watchmaker
•Responsible for assessing the authenticity and functionality of timepieces personally worked on
•Work closely with Horology leaders to assist in any requested educational or training initiatives
•Partner with Horology leaders to scale the growth of the company’s watch repair and service initiatives
•Perform any additional daily tasks as directed by the Head Watchmaker
Skills and Abilities
•Ability to service all common watch brands
•Ability to execute on communication systems
•Adept at working with technology solutions to increase productivity and efficiency
•Polished in verbal and written communication
•Ability to handle multiple complex, time sensitive situations
•Degree or certification from relevant watchmaking educational institution
•3-5 years experience repairing timepieces
•Brand certification from major watch brand a plus
•Assist FJW managers in overseeing/leading the team.
•Contribute to daily production.
•Ensure that individual & team goals are being met while keeping high quality standards.
•Ability to multitask, solve escalated issues and work independently.
•Resolve issues in a professional manner.
•Work closely with various internal departments and contacts to resolve issues including, but not limited to Photography, Consignor/Customer Service, Returns, Outbound Operations.
•Assist in operational duties such as scanning the rejection cart, pulling items from the safe, etc.
•Assist senior specialists/gemologists on all gemological questions & training.
•Assist in managing the product sort on all received items.
•Assist in interviewing potential candidates.
•Other duties as requested.
Skills & Qualifications
•GG certification required.
•Strong knowledge of jewelry and watch brands/trends.
•Strong leadership abilities in managing and developing a high performing team.
