The Jeweler-New Products is responsible for process/route development, cast cleaning and the assembly of complex gold, silver and platinum jewelry pieces to Tiffany production and quality standards. The Jeweler-New Products will possess superior ability and skills in terms of construction and fabrication from start to finish. Create and/or reject jewelry pieces with or without stones following written instructions and specifications. The Jeweler-New Products will be responsible for facilitating training both in the classroom and on the production floor.

Responsibilities

ON THE BENCH

Ability to work with all metals that Tiffany & Co. uses. These metals include, but are not limited to: 18K gold (white, yellow, rose), 14K gold (white, yellow, rose), sterling silver, platinum, and Rubedo. Utilize various techniques to create or repair jewelry pieces with or without precious stones. Use of appropriate tooling as required. Must demonstrate the skill to Tiffany & Co.’s Quality Standards, taking proper care as not to damage metals, stones, and/or enamel; by use of Foredom motors, hand-pieces and other jeweler tools to clean and repair jewelry components. Hand solder platinum and bi-metal sub-assemblies. Use of laser weld machine to assemble specific products and to repair casting defects on components and sub-assemblies. Physically construct new product initial prototypes and samples according to the project delivery timelines. Responsible for the completion of the product and repair of silver, gold, Rubedo, and platinum jewelry of all levels of complexity.

OTHER DUTIES AS REQUIRE

Collaborate with the project leaders, CAD technicians, jewelers, polishers and setters on all technical aspects of the piece. Provide input on all technical aspects and maneuverability during project reviews; participate in brainstorming sessions during review meetings. Provide input on production techniques and initial labor estimates. Maintain a professional, positive and respectful work environment while complying with Company policies and procedures. Participate and carry out team tasks by helping co-workers with questions as well as your teammates who may be challenged with a given task. Mentor existing team members as well as assist in the training of new associates. Demonstrate a willingness to communicate at team meetings and perform other activities as directed. Perform demonstrations for tours as needed.

Provide training to production craft during the production test run and launch phases of the new product introduction process. Observation of trainees with respect to their performance and recommendation of additional skill requirements of training needed. Provide reinforcing and constructive feedback on a formal and informal basis. Meet with supervisor and learning specialist to provide updates on progress.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

10+ years bench jeweler experience –working with high end and/or repeatable precious metal jewelry.

Demonstrated Knowledge/experience of a Laser Welder Machine.

Experience working with platinum, yellow gold, white gold and silver.

Extensive experience working with diverse materials (e.g., platinum, yellow gold, white gold, and silver) and gemstones/diamonds

Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with customers and multiple staff levels.

Strong organizational, interpersonal skills and partnership skills.

Professional work ethic demonstrative of exceptional customer service, compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality, security; attendance.

Must be flexible to adapt to changing priorities and willing to change responsibilities within the department as needed by the business.

Technical understanding of polishing and setting jewelry manufacturing techniques.

Significant experience with performing and troubleshooting jewelry repairs.

Flexibility to work overtime and/or modified work schedules as needed by the business.

Preferred Qualifications – But Not Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent
Proficiency using computers
Diamond and colored gemstone setting experience, high end jewelry
Jewelry/Manufacturing industry experience
Experience with diamonds and colored gemstones –certification preferred.
Experience setting diamonds and colored gemstones.
