We design and make fine jewellery exclusively in our Canterbury shop. Our rich and diverse portfolio features many treasures including Engagement Rings, Dress Rings, Eternity Rings, Signet Rings, Bracelets, Bangles, Earrings, Brooches and Cufflinks. Our one-off pieces are commissioned by our customers or are made for our shop display selection. We are renowned for the character, variety and high quality of our designs.
Authenticity in the way we create jewellery is of the upmost importance to us. This refers to our continuation and development of the art of the traditional jewellery maker – designing and making, with precious materials, by hand, at the bench.
We value the close personal relationship we enjoy with our customers and we feel privileged to create by hand jewellery that will last for generations to come.
We are now looking for a full time Goldsmith to join our small team.
About the Job
The job involves all aspects of jewellery making from our in-house workshop, which is on the same premises as our retail store / boutique.
The work is varied and interesting and requires a high level of skill.
About the Candidate
The candidate we are looking for:
· Must be motivated and must possess the ability to use his / her initiative when commissioned with a task.
· Must have 5+ years of experience at the bench
· Most importantly be a team player
· Be ready to accept new challenges and ready to work and learn all aspects of traditional gold-smithing including forging, repousse and setting.
· Should have the ability to see and understand designs in 3 dimensions from sketches. It is as essential as is the skill of communication.
· CAD skills are an advantage.
The successful candidate must be prepared to be customer facing when necessary and therefore being neat of appearance is essential.
Everything we do is original, no precast off the shelf components. As much as possible is made in-house including our own Fairtrade gold and white gold alloys. Only the highest quality precious materials feature in our jewellery. All pieces are designed by us, made by hand at the bench, in our own workshop from start to finish, using traditional and ancient techniques combined with modern developments. The design flare and skill of our makers coupled with the character and quality of traditional making results in jewellery that is authentic both in how it looks and how it was made. We treasure the rich aesthetic and historical narrative that is weaved into every piece.
