The watch crystal is the clear plastic or glass portion of your watch that protects the watch dial from dust and other kinds of damage while being worn and allows you to tell the time without having x-ray vision. Over time your watch crystal can be scratched, cracked or broken and need to be replaced. Instead of throwing out your favorite watch when the crystal is damaged, learn how to replace with with this guide. In this guide you will learn how to insert almost any type of watch crystal into almost any watch.
Some of these guides may require you to remove all the inner workings of the watch movement from the watch case to safely replace the watch crystal, and others may involve high heat or adhesives. If at any point you feel unsure about one part of the process, you should stop and take your watch to a professional watchmaker to avoid damaging it permanently.
Glued In Crystals
If your watch crystal is held in place with glue, there are several different types of watch glue you can use to reattach the crystal to your watch case. Be aware that you will most likely want to remove the watch movement from the watch case before attempting to glue your crystal back into place to keep from damaging it or getting it covered in any of the recommended adhesives. Compression Fit Crystals

If you have a watch crystal that is held in place with a gasket or a tension ring, you will most likely need to use a watch crystal press to press it securely into place. To learn how to use a crystal press, check out this article:

I have an Armani Exchange ax 1227 5atm 121309 watch. I need to replace the crystal, but I don’t know what size or thickness to order. Can someone please help me with this? Thank you in advance for your help.
I have an Invicta pro diver 892608B with 40mm case and I would like to replace the crystal with a flat sapphire glass like the Rolex Sea Dweller model. I also need the Bezel insert in black that would fit this watch. Can you help me out?
Thank You
Hi mike,
I have several 8926’s I have modified.
If you have the Seiko NH35 movement you need a crystal that is 30mm x 2.5mm. If you have an older model with the Miyota movement I believe the crystal is 30.3mm x 2.5mm
Bezel inserts for a 16610 submariner should fit. Unfortunately the invicta is not exactly like the Rolex it is designed after and therefore not all bezel inserts will work. I have not tried any from Esslinger so I cannot comment on their fitting or not. Hope this helps you out.

I’m looking for a crystal to replace on a watch…
(1.28 inch IPS full circle screen)
Can any Crystal be glued into a watch case or only certain types of crystals? I have a “wooden” watch I am repairing, that the crystal was glued in and am replacing it .Just don’t want to get a sapphire crystal and not be able to glue in.
You can really glue in any crystal that you would like. Some crystals are meant to be installed without glue – but if the original was a flat crystal that was glued in I think you can do the same with another similar crystal.
I need crystals for three watches
