When you say “measure the diameter” of the thread, do you mean major diameter or minor diameter? This is the standard machinist terminology for threads, so I’m wondering which I need to order (and therefore how to interpret my measurements). Thanks!

I replaced a Seiko 8122A movement (tap 11 stem thread) with a VX42e movement ( tap 10 stem thread). The crown will not fit the new stem thread. This watch is from the late 1970s. It uses a Japanese waterproof crown. I have not been able to find a tap crown to fit the new stem. I wonder if I could use 88.600 stem extender to reduce the new tap 10 stem to a tap 11 and reuse the original crown. Thanks for your help. Bob Mayer

I know what the OD of various threads are (ie tap 10 is 0.90 mm, tap 9 is 1.00 mm etc).
Is there a chart for the drill sizes for the same, when tapping .
